The official match ball for UEFA Euro 2024, supplied by adidas, is named the Fussballliebe. Unveiled ahead of the tournament hosted in Germany, the ball carries a design that reflects the host nation’s colours and football heritage.
Design and Visual Elements
The Fussballliebe features a vibrant palette of black, red, and gold – the colours of the German flag. The pattern consists of interconnected triangular shapes that create a dynamic visual effect when the ball is in motion. According to adidas, the graphics were inspired by the concept of “unity” and the celebration of football culture across Europe.
Construction and Technology
adidas employs its Thermobond technology in the Fussballliebe, which thermally bonds the panels together to create a seamless surface. This construction aims to reduce water uptake and provide a consistent feel regardless of weather conditions. The ball uses a 32‑panel layout, a configuration that has been standard for many top‑level match balls in recent years.
The outer casing is made from a polyurethane (PU) material that offers a soft touch while maintaining durability. Inside, a bladder made of natural rubber helps retain shape and air pressure over extended periods of play.
